DOGWOOD CITY GROTTO
Join Miki and Andy Kalber on the annual Camps Gulf trip! Camps Gulf is an incredible cave located in Falls Creek Falls State Park and contains some of the biggest rooms in the United States. This should not be your first cave trip. The cave is challenging due to the THREE enormous breakdown mountains you have to climb. There is some exposure towards the back of the cave. There will be an opportunity to swim if we make it to our destination in the back of the cave, so consider bringing a change of clothes. If you wish to swim, you MUST bring something inflatable (i.e. kiddy ring, etc). We will meet at 10 am CENTRAL time at the parking area for the cave. As soon as you register for this trip, you need to sign the state park WAIVER. If you wish to camp before or after the trip, the Kalber property is available, however, it is about 45 minutes north of the cave (2494 Mine Lick Creek Rd, Cookeville, TN). Camping at Falls Creek Falls State Park is also an option, but weekends in the summer sell out quickly. After we get out of the cave, there is a great swimming hole in the park we usually go to, so bring a suit. We will also probably grill at the house, so bring something to throw on if you want join. The usual caving setup is required: helmet, 3 sources of light, sturdy shoes, gloves, knee pads, jacket, pack with backup batteries, water, and snacks. If you have any questions contact Miki at 863-602-0869.
