Beginner Horizontal Trip to CRCC

Arnita Gray will be leading a beginner horizontal trip for 10 participants to a beautifully decorated horizontal cave in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The cave is right off of the road so no TAG hike required.

Although this cave is very short, it is filled with many beautiful speleothems. Please be careful and mindful of your movement at all times (especially your helmet in the entrance crawlway). We want to ensure that formations stay intact and we are leaving no trace. 

Since this will be a short trip, the pace will be leisurely, and we will spend a lot of time taking pictures and admiring the beauty of the cave. 

The plan is to meet at the pavilion at Caver's Paradise (482 Wild Heart Lane, Sewanee, TN 37375) in Sewanee, Tennessee at noon eastern and caravan/carpool from there. While this trip is open to everyone, it is geared towards beginners and people attending the auction and campout. Please do not sign up if you do not plan to attend the campout. 

To join us, you will need to bring:

• a helmet with mounted light and new/fresh batteries (if you need to rent for $5, contact Joel Rowe ASAP!!!  Also, you'll need to bring 6 brand new AA batteries.)
• spare batteries for your light if you bring your own helmet/light
  
• gloves
• kneepads
• sturdy boots/shoes
• water
• backpack to carry your gear so your hands will be free to move in the cave
• change of clothes for after the cave
